Why are you a business owner?

Running a business is a balancing act between building success today and securing your future

Hi everyone,

Something a little bit different from me today.

I'm aware that many of you who I reach out to every week are business owners like me - or perhaps are people who see themselves owning a business in the future.

My personal journey: Balancing today and tomorrow

Let me share something personal.

When I started Virtuoso Legal, I was laser-focused on building the business.

Every pound felt like it needed to be reinvested, and every decision was measured against immediate growth.

Sound familiar?

But here's the reality I've learned: true business success isn't just about what you build today, but how you secure your future and create a legacy.

I've watched too many entrepreneurs pour everything into their businesses, only to find themselves stretched thin when thinking about retirement.

For years, I viewed my pension as something distant, almost theoretical. The business was my primary investment.

But conversations with financial strategists - most recently with Paul Brooks from WealthBuilders - opened my eyes to a different approach.

What if your pension could actually fuel your business while simultaneously building your future security?

What if you could strategically use your retirement funds to support your current entrepreneurial vision without compromising long-term financial stability?

The entrepreneurial balancing act

Business owners are inherent risk-takers, and with that comes the potential for significant rewards.

There's no shame in acknowledging that personal success and an aspirational lifestyle are part of our motivations.

(Although many business owners will agree with me that the job means you're effectively working 24/7, 365 days a year!)

Strategic financial planning: A new perspective

Recently, I've been exploring innovative approaches to business and pension planning that offer more flexibility and control.

Specifically, I learned about Small Self-Administered Scheme (SSAS) pensions - a sophisticated financial tool that allows business owners to:

  • Potentially invest pension funds back into their own business.
  • Access more tax-efficient funding options.
  • Maintain greater investment control.
  • Create potential tax advantages for both the business and personal wealth.

Looking ahead

While I'm not a financial advisor, my conversations with experts like Paul have reinforced something crucial: as business owners, we need to think beyond the immediate.

Our financial strategies should be as dynamic and innovative as our businesses themselves.

An open invitation

We've been fortunate to connect with leading experts in business financial planning.

If this resonates with you - if you're curious about how you might better align your business growth with your personal financial security - we'd be more than happy to facilitate an introduction.

Simply get in touch with me and we can put you in touch to see if this might be valuable for you.

If people are really interested in this side of things, we can also follow up with some insight and content in this area in collaboration with Paul, so please do let me know.

As always, if there's anything I can help you with otherwise, don't hesitate to get in touch

Hope you have a great week,

Liz
