Hallam Whitehead works at Virtuoso Legal. He will begin his training as a trainee solicitor at the beginning for 2020, having joined the firm in September 2019.
Hallam has previously enjoyed two placements at Virtuoso, initially in 2018 as a Virtuoso Legal Prize winner whilst studying at Leeds Beckett, and then once again in July 2019 prior to joining the same year.
Having studied Intellectual Property during his final year of the LLB at Leeds Beckett, Hallam decided to undertake an LLM in Intellectual Property at the University of Leeds. As part of his studies on the LLM, Hallam completed various modules relating to core IP issues such as patents and copyright, as well as specialised modules relating to contemporary issues such as cyberlaw and IP management.
For his dissertation, Hallam decided to explore the issue of data as intellectual property, analysing the lack of sufficient regulatory safeguards in place to protect democracy from manipulations of big data.
