Changes To The Trade Mark System… Including Cost Increases!
We don’t want to bombard you with information but here are a couple of urgent things that you need to be aware of…
Changes To the Trade Mark System And Cost Increases
If you have trade marks there are some significant changes to the law which will affect many of our clients. We are trying to speak to lots of you before they take place on 23 March 2016. But one of the key ones is that the official fees for Community Trade Marks are increasing, across the board. Another key change is that in order to be registered trade marks, they will need to be much more specific when registered.
This means that trade marks can’t be as broadly registered for goods and services as in the past.
If you’re thinking of registering your brands, now is the time before the costs increase!
If you’re interested in exporting I’m doing a webinar on Wednesday 3 February 2016 at 2pm. NB this will be available afterwards as a podcast.
This is being done in conjunction with the Open to Export programme.
My guest for the event will be Brian Dickson of SPORT DIRECT (NOTE not Sports Direct.com the high street retailer) who will be discussing exporting some of the cycle accessories, clothing and other goods he exports worldwide.
I’ll be covering the following topics:
- Understanding and preparing for different regulations in overseas new markets
- Establishing appropriate payment procedures and terms and conditions
- Drawing up proper distribution and resale agreements
- Making sure your IP is protected internationally
- Making sure your online presence and trading is legally safe
