Meet... Kirsten Toft

Kirsten’s expertise covers both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters.
She has extensive experience in advising clients in relation to patent, copyright, design right, trade mark and passing off disputes. She is experienced in resolving disputes through High Court litigation and through mediation. She also specialises in licensing and other commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights.
Kirsten has acted on behalf of both multinationals and SMEs, including: ICI, Harrods Group (Harrods and Paris Ritz), Cookson Group PLC, Reckitt Benckiser, United Biscuits (McVities) and Black & Decker.
In recent years she has been particularly involved in the co-ordination and running of various European patent actions involving several jurisdictions in Europe including the United Kingdom.
Kirsten qualified as a solicitor into international law firm Hammonds in1997 having obtained her BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology at the University of Manchester. Kirsten has a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from Bristol University.
Kirsten practised intellectual property law at Hammonds’ London office until she moved to Australia in 2005. In Australia she worked for Spruson & Ferguson lawyers in their Sydney office in the Commercialisation of Intellectual Property Department. She was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in April 2006.
Kirsten returned to the UK and joined Virtuoso Legal in November 2007.
